Ways to invest in the Proctor Health Care Foundation

There are many ways to make a gift to the Proctor Health Care Foundation. The Foundation staff is ready to work with all donors to determine the most beneficial gift for the donor, the donor’s family, and the Foundation.

Unrestricted gifts give the Foundation the most flexibility to effectively respond to needs of Proctor Hospital. These funds are used to support all aspects of the Hospital’s mission and will make an immediate impact where it is needed the most.

Donors may designate their gift to a specific purpose within the Hospital. If the purpose of the gift becomes impractical or impossible to fulfill, the Board of Trustees of the Foundation may select another purpose with a similar outcome.

Please consider the following options for supporting the Proctor Health Care Foundation.

Gifts of Cash
The most common way to make a gift to the Proctor Health Care Foundation is with a gift of cash.

Gifts of Stock
The method of transfer varies depending on how the stock is held. The donor must instruct the broker or trust officer to contact Laura Schoon at the Foundation (laura.schoon@proctor.org or 309-693-0414) for instructions on transferring the stock to the Proctor Health Care Foundation. It is helpful if the donor advises the Foundation that a gift of stock is forthcoming. Do not instruct your broker or trust officer to sell the stock and forward the proceeds to the Foundation. In order to avoid the capital gains tax, the stock must be transferred to the Foundation. The market value of the security is determined by the average of the high and low value of the shares on the date the securities are received.

The Proctor Health Care Foundation will accept closely held stock if the gift is made through a Charitable Trust. Contact the Foundation office for additional information.

Gifts of Life Insurance Policies
Many friends have discovered that life insurance policies they purchased years ago have now outlived their original purpose and can provide an ideal means of making a significant gift to the Proctor Health Care Foundation. Life insurance frequently allows a donor to make a much larger gift than he or she would otherwise have been able to make.

Gifts of Retirement Plan Assets
Donors may name the Foundation as the designated beneficiary of retirement plan assets.

Gifts of Personal or Real Property
Gifts of personal or real property can be valuable assets for furthering the mission of the Proctor Health Care Foundation by enhancing the delivery of medical care. Planned and Deferred Gifts
Planned and deferred gifts include gift annuities, remainder and lead trusts, gifts with a retained life estate, bequests and other trusts in which gifts to the Foundation are documented. Matching Gifts
Your support means so much to the Proctor Health Care Foundation. By utilizing your company's corporate matching gift program you may double or even triple a recent gift to the Foundation. We urge you to take advantage of this benefit. If you work for a matching gift company, request a matching gift form from your human resources department or download it from the company Web site. Send the completed and signed form with your gift. Some companies even match gifts made by retirees or directors.

Corporate Gifts
Gifts from corporate partners play a vital role in helping the Proctor Health Care Foundation fulfill its mission. Corporate gifts can take many forms. They can be unrestricted gifts that support the general operation of the Hospital or they can be restricted to particular departments, equipment or nursing units.
